ASWAN

(Nazeer x Yosreia) 1958 - 1984

Part two

The Aswan son Patron (out of Podruga), especially known for his famous son Padron (out of Odessa), who himself has already put a monument with his son Padrons Psyche (out of Kilika).

In Tersk the full-brothers Mascat (out of Malutka) and Mashuk were extensively used. Mascat produced the chief-sire Aromat (out of Madia) (who unfortunately died in february 1998) and a couple of very good broodmares like Angelika (out of Naturshitsa) and Astronomia (out of Salvia). Mascat offspring is well known for their excellent performance ability. Mashuk, "the king of Tersk" at age 22 still in good health and as beautiful as ever, unfortunately only left little offspring, because at the age of 11, due to a kidney-colic, he went sterile. Mashuk is the sire of very succesful showhorses like Gips (out of Polinezia), Veteran (out of Polnoch), Vodolej (out of Mechta) and Valuta (out of Malwa) as well as some precious broodmares, for example: Tesma (out of Tantra) and Djesika (out of Pliaska).

Even more precious than his sons are the daughters of Aswan! Beautiful and unmistakable in type (Aswan-look!), he left marvellous broodmares in Tersk and many of them were exported to Europe, America and also Australia. Among his most influential daughters is Kaluga (out of Kasatka) who left some high quality horses with Karaganda (by Gwizd), Exkursia (by Esplendor) and Karat (by Aromat). The mating of Aswan and Karta was an absolute hit! The resoulting foals were Kilimanjaro, Kastanjeta, Karinka, Klarnet, Kromka, Kartinka, and Kariatida. Karinka proved herself as an excellent broodmare, especially of racehorses like Vakansia (by Peleng), Drug (by Prizrak), Kosmonaut, Karnaval and Koldunia (all by Naftalin). Kariatida produced the young promissing stallion Kupol (by Pogremok).   Another great succes was the mating with the Mammona-line. The most famous mares of those matings are: Molva (out of Monopolia) mother of Almaz (by Naftalin), Brigantina and Vympel (both by Menes), Nevesta (out of Nagrada) who produced the sires Vatican (by Kumir) (who unfortunately died last year) and Grand (by Mukomol) and the broodmare Desna (by Kumir). Of course the famous Nariadnaia (out of Neposeda) as mother of Nariadni and Nejnaja (both by Nabeg), Nariadnaias full-sister Nega who produced the sire Neman (by Nabeg) and the broodmare Vengria (by Menes). Not to forget Nevada (out of Naina), the foundation mare of Mrs. S. Garde-Ehlert, mother of the excellent broodmare Neschi (by Kilimanjaro). Panagia (out of Pustinia), beside Pakistan (by Kumir) has produced her "masterpiece" with Balaton (by Menes) "the horse of the century"!

We could continue with Najada, Narada, Navarra, Nida, Nioba, Makovka, Martinika, Pantera, Parma, Pechora, Pula, Pesnia, Pristan and so on... There are few stallions who have produced such precious horses for the breed like Aswan and this list is far to be complete!

Back in Tersk, near the museum in a small place offside the road you can find his grave with a marble monument. Next to him lie two of his precious daughters; Pesnia and Karinka.
