Championnat d'Alsace 8./9. july 2000
After a break of almost two years, I finally had
the chance to go to an Arab show again!
The show was held in a beautiful park with impressive big old trees near the small city
of Colmar in the heart of the Alsace (in the north of France).
Due to my job I only arrived on Saturday evening and therefore missed the classes of the 1 to 3 year old. Three of those classes
were won by "Swiss" horses: The lovely bay W.A. Djambala (Kapitol x Djubnavala) won the yearling filly class, followed by
her half-brother Nazhada Kigali (Kapitol x Nazhada Madani) who won the
two year old colt class. And the third class was won by the three year old stallion Shaklan Ibn Bengali (FS Bengali x LM Sadunga).
Sunday began with the senior classes, with rather wide range of quality.
Unfortunately the weather was not very friendly and during the
Championships it was raining. The title of junior Champion mare went to
the lovely two year old Sabrina (Crusader x LM Sadunga), Reserve
Champion was the three year old Egyptian Asinah (Ansata Sinan x E.Anjali
Amanda).
The Junior Championships could have been called *a family affair*,
because it was Sabrinas half-brother Shaklan Ibn Bengali (FS Bengali x
LM Sadunga) who got the title of Junior Champion stallion! The very
typey yearling Kama Raitz (FS Ritz x Rae Par) won the Reserve title.
It took the judges some time to choose between the Australian bred Fairview Shakla's Sugar and Spice
(SK Shakla Khan x Fair Flirtation) and Djubnavala (Karnaval x Dulcineia) and to decide which one of those
two beautiful mares should be named Champion. Finally
the recently imported Australian was named Senior Champion mare and
Djubnavala (the mother of Djambala) Reseve Champion, the 5th *Swiss
success* at this show! The elegant chestnut Majestic de l'Orne (Nadir I
x MT Maggie Mae) was named Senior Champion stallion and the Reseve title
went to Djahil el Maklouf (Maklouf x Habiba).
No matter the cold and rainy weather, it
was a very nice show and most important: at the Championat
d'Alsace, friendship and fairplay are always held very high!
