Evelyne's story

I was born on June 2, 1974 in the small village Muenchringen (near Bern) in Switzerland, where I grew up with my elder sister and my younger brother.

The horse-gene runs in the family but unfortunately in the case of my parents it "jumped" a generation...so as a teenager I spent all my "hard earned money" for riding holidays. During summer holidays I used to work for three weeks so that in autumn I could enjoy two weeks of riding in the beautiful countryside of Franche-Compté (France) at the Ranch Reculotte. There I met my first big "horse-love" Moustique. He was a beautiful and gentle Camargue gelding and I spent unforgettable moments with him! It's also most probably due to him, that I have this weakness for greys ;-).Evelyne as a toddlerMoustique died of horse influenza in 1989 - and although I never owned him, I felt like I had lost *my horse*...he was such a lovely mosquito (that's what his name means)...

In 1986 I went to an Arab show for the first time (and for the last time with my parents, they wanted to go home much too soon!) and there I saw the beautiful mare Nil Tahar (Ansata Halim Shah x Tiffaha) and I got immediately infected with *arabitis*....and from this time on it only got worse "grin"... My first visit to the Kossack Stud in 1994 definitely started the "Russian" fever! I was so very impressed by those beautiful and gentle horses from Tersk that I began reading all I could about them! And it was at the Tersk Holland Sale 1995 when I saw my first Aswan daughters (how I would have loved to see Aswan himself!) and I was in love!! Those mares are so very special; creatures of pure beauty!!! I don't find enough words to describe them, they are just *divine*. They were and still are my personal image of a classic Arabian horse! The very first Aswan daughter I met, Navarra, will always have a special place in my heart and it makes me very happy that her daughter Nasyp (by Pakistan) is now at home in Switzerland!

Horses are very important in my life, I just can't imagine living without them! And is it a surprise that I met my closest friends through the Arabian horse? Two of them, Verena and Sepp, live in the village next door and it only takes me 5 minutes to see them and their lovely Arabians. Evelyne with Moustique in 1989

But of course I have some other passions as well: I love photography (obviously) and books! I like to travel, to swim, to ski and to hang around with my friends! And I love music, from soft to hard, like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Joanne Shenandoah, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Die Toten Hosen, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, Züri West, Molotov and many more. I'm an active member of Incomindios (International Committee for the Indigenous of the Americas, by the way: that's where I met Christa!), that's a small Swiss support group for Native Americans. Oh and I love languages! I speak German, English, French and Spanish but I'd like to speak Russian as well, or Gealigh, but that's a wee bit exotic maybe ;-)

So if you d'like to know more or want to have a chat with me, send me an e-mail!
