After a two year break, Switzerland
finally had its Nationals again!
Showing is actually not very popular in Switzerland and
the few (but successful!) people who are regulary showing their horses visit the shows in
our neighbour-countries! By the way, the population of registered Purebred Arabians is
actually about 1700, and we have about 500 registered Partbred and Anglo Arabians and 300
Shagya Arabians in Switzerland.
The Swiss Nationals (ECAHO-C Show) were held on
september 5./6. 1998 in Dielsdorf near Zürich. The horses were judged with the 20-point
systeme by the international judges Mrs Teresa de Bourbon Marquesa de Laula, Spain; Mrs
Isabella Pawelec - Zawadzka, Poland; and Mr Tamas Rombauer, Hungary. The number of
participants was not very high, only about 80 horses, but among them were the best
Arabians we actually have in Switzerland, and this fact alone was worth the journey!
Besides I had lots of fun at this show, I met dear friends and I was very pleased about
the judges decisions!
It was also very interesting that the riding classes
had more participants per class than the show classes!
All in all this show was a *Russian Affair* with a
very strong representation of Balaton's blood, by
himself as a sire and through his grand-son Kapitol (Kubinec x Nostalgia).
