Visiting Nikita (pictures) |
| Baby pics: Nikita was born in April 1998. This pictures show him with his dam Keshma as a foal. It was a photograph like that which made me fall in love with him. | July 1998: Our first visit at the Thievents beautiful home. It was a sunny day. Here you see Nikita together with his buddy, the ten days older Vulkan (Versal x Graziella). |
| August 1998: The next time we saw Nikita at the Swiss Stock Show for purebred Arabians. He was there as part of the family reunion of his great dam Rishah (Rihan x Jezabel). Nikita is still hairy like a teddy bear. | November 1998: Just before Nikita and Vulkan left for the "growing up pasture" in the Swiss mountains called Jura we went to see them again. The pics in the barn are a bit dark. |
| Winter 1998/99: This was Nikitas first winter. Those pics were not taken by me but by Esther Hossle. She and her husband Franz own the farm where Nikita stays. They have a very diversified farm, raising cattle and breeding Arabians and Paints. | April 1999: We went to see Nikita and his friends on the "growing up pasture". At the time the herd was still mixed (fillies and colts together). My husband came along and saw how serious my affliction had become. |
| May 1999: My first visit after purchasing Nikita. That day I had a vet check him out and the colts were moved to the stallions pasture, where they will stay till age three. | June 1999: A bad weather visit. The colts were dirty from wallowing in the mud. Nikita made funny faces while Evelyne scratched his back. Then we tried out Nikitas new halter. |
| June 1999: A family visit. My husbands brother with wife and kids came along. The twins, Stefanie and Daniel, won Nikitas heart by petting him and feeding him with hay. | July 1999: That day was so sunny that some of the pictures are too dark. I was showing Nikita off to four of my cousins. Some of the pictures were taken by my cousin Marietta. |
| September 1999: This time I took my two brothers along. It was too hot for good pictures, Nikita sleeps in most of them. Some of the pictures were taken by my brother Peter. | November 1999: Thievents took me along to see Nikita on my birthday. He had a huge belly and was only interested in food, not us. The mist was so thick we could hardly find the horses. |
| December 1999: After Christmas Thievents once again took me along for the trip. This time I got to make better pictures, even though the horses do lack nobility with their thick winter coats. | April 2000: Because of the new baby I could not visit Nikita for a long time. This was the last occasion I saw Nikita as a colt. It was a beautiful day after a rainy week and you can imagine how the horses looked. |
| June 2000: The first visit after Nikita was gelded. This time I brought along some special guests: his future trainer Nadja Maurer, her boyfriend Lukas and Zorro, the dog.
